There can be so many interesting ways to celebrate a second year wedding anniversary. My husband and I have been married for a year and a half and are currently planning ours!
Renewing vows, taking a vacation, and going on a good old fashioned date are a few good ways...
The idea of renewing your wedding vows really seems like it is over done but you can easily put your own spin on things. If you had a traditional church wedding, find somewhere more unique to do the ceremony. One option is to go to a local park and have a simple ceremony under the trees. Another idea is go somewhere classically romantic, such as a nearby beach or a waterfall to renew your vows. You can even just do the ceremony in your own home or back yard surrounded by family if that is more your style.
If you decided to not have your wedding in a church, however, you can always feel free to do that! Your rededication ceremony can be as simple or as complicated as you both want it to be. Going all it is not by any means a requirement, though. Renewing wedding vows on a second anniversary is simply romantic by itself.
If you would prefer to do something more fun or crazy for your second year wedding anniversary - plan a vacation with either just the two of you or feel free to include the kids if you want to. You can go on a cruise to somewhere that you have always wanted to go, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, anywhere you can think of really.

Amusement Park Getaway!
Another thing you can do is plan a trip to an amusement park that neither of you have ever been to, such as Universal Studios, Disney World, King's Island, Six Flags, etc. If amusement parks aren't your style, you can always just travel to a different city or state to get some alone/ vacation time together.
No matter what you do, spending time with the one you love is the biggest priority and can be extremely fun and interesting on your anniversary. Even people who have only been married for a short period of time have a hard time remembering the dating days sometimes.
A good way to celebrate an anniversary is to go on a date like you used to back in the day! Go to dinner at a resturaunt that you used to go to or even just your favorite one now. You could go see a good movie that is playing in theaters, but make sure the decision isn't one sided.
Sometimes, the most simple things can mean the most. Take a long walk or get ice cream together if you want to. No matter what you decide you want to do, just be sure to remember that your anniversary is all about the two of you. Anything you can do to make it special for you both will be enough even if it isn't anything extravagant.
