Wedding Anniversary Poem: After the Beginning
by Layla
Everyone knows, a poem is for love The kind of love that burns nations to ash But after all this time, what's left to write of? Pick up milk? The laundry? Take out the trash? I remember nights when we could barely breathe Wrapped tightly, trying to make our bodies one Flesh, to understand what lay underneath Each others' eyes. Is the mystery gone? I love you like I love my duvet, or My coffee, which you know I have to drink. Though love is not the same, it is more Than it was. You are my missing link. And I will reach out in darkness each night And hold you, perfect, sleeping, mine, and right. Thanks Layla for sharing your original wedding anniversary poem with us. If you are a bit of a poet - feel free to share your original wedding anniversary poem or verses with The Wedding Anniversary Site community. |
